Privacy policy

BxGPT is a self-hosted AI assistant operated by Bx Zahid. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to the information you send. It describes how the software is built and configured; if the configuration changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated.

What BxGPT stores

• Conversations are stored in your browser, using its local storage. They are not uploaded to or saved in a database on the server.
• Your settings (theme, model preferences, custom instructions) are also stored only in your browser.
• You can delete individual conversations, or use Settings → Delete all conversations. Clearing your browser’s site data for bxgpt.bxzahid.com removes everything.

What the server processes

To generate a reply, your browser sends the current message and recent conversation history to the BxGPT server over HTTPS. The server passes it to a language model running on the same machine and streams the reply back. The text is held in memory only for the duration of that request.

No third-party AI provider receives your messages. The model runs locally on the server through Ollama.

What is logged

The application logs one line per request containing a random request ID, the model name, the outcome, token counts and timing. It does not log the content of messages or replies.

The web server in front of the application (Nginx) keeps standard access logs — IP address, time, requested path, status code and user agent — for security and abuse prevention. These logs are rotated automatically and are not used for profiling or advertising.

For rate limiting, the application keeps a hashed form of your IP address in memory for the duration of the rate-limit window. It is not written to disk.

Cookies and tracking

BxGPT does not set cookies and does not load analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts. Fonts are served from the same domain.

Accuracy and sensitive information

AI responses can be wrong. Avoid sending passwords, secret keys, or personal data you would not want processed by a server you do not control. Do not rely on BxGPT for medical, legal or financial decisions.
